Verdigris Restaurant at Oxford Oaks Distillery | Our Story
Two Crafts. One Roof. One Philosophy.
In a restored early-1900s hardware store in historic downtown Oxford, North Carolina, a working micro-distillery and an elevated Southern restaurant share one roof — and one philosophy. This is how it happened.
The Baird Hardware Building
The red-brick Baird Hardware building anchored downtown Oxford for over 50 years. In 2022, a full renovation transformed it into Granville County's first craft distillery and upscale restaurant sharing one beautifully restored space.
The 350L Copper Still
A 350L copper pot still and distillation column produce vodka, rum, gin, and Carolina Whiskey — every bottle filled and labeled by hand. Grains and botanicals come from regional farmers, keeping it as local as the building.
Chef Marc Cavanaugh's Kitchen
Chef Marc Cavanaugh — a Granville County native with over 20 years of experience — crafts an elevated Southern menu: His attention to detail and commitment to quality is showcased in every dish he and his team creates.
The Grand National Trophy
In 2024, Oxford Oaks took gold in Vodka, Flavored Vodka, and Rum at the U.S. Open Spirits Championship — and the Grand National Champion's Trophy with their 86 proof Carolina Whiskey.
Always Something in the Barrel
Up next: barrel-strength bourbon, infused vodkas, ready-to-drink cocktails. The best chapters are still being written — now is a great time to make the drive.
